Arthur’s Seat Hike

quiet moments above the city

WALK. BREATHE. CAPTURE.

WHERE THE CITY MEETS THE SKY

There is something special about walking up Arthur’s Seat — Edinburgh’s iconic hill right in the heart of the city. From the quiet paths to the wide-open views, this is a place where nature and city blend together beautifully.

THIS IS NOT JUST A CITY WALK. THIS IS A CHANCE TO SLOW DOWN AND TAKE IT ALL IN.

You will feel the wind on your face, take in the sounds of the city below, and enjoy a peaceful walk above it all. It is a short hike, but it invites you to pause, breathe, and connect.

We will follow one of the gentler routes up Arthur’s Seat. On a clear day, you can see the coastline, the rooftops of the Old Town, and even the hills in the distance. The views are breathtaking, and the walk itself is just as lovely.

During our time together, I will capture your adventure through natural, relaxed photographs — no stiff poses, just beautiful, real moments with the city behind you and the sky above.

This experience is perfect for travellers who want a unique memory of their time in Edinburgh — solo travellers, couples, friends, or families with older children. It is a peaceful way to explore the city from above and take home something more than souvenirs.

YOU DESERVE A SCOTTISH ADVENTURE THAT YOU WILL NEVER FORGET.

What you'll do

A CITY HIKE WITH BIG VIEWS, OPEN SPACES, AND A FRESH PERSPECTIVE

Join me for a real Scottish adventure high above Edinburgh.

We will meet at the car park at Holyrood Car Park. From there, we will take a gentle walk along a beautiful path that leads us up into the hills. The walk is around 3 kilometres and takes us through a quieter side of Arthur’s Seat — away from the busy trails, with lovely views all around.

This is not a challenging hike, but you will feel the fresh air, stretch your legs, and enjoy the open space. We will walk slowly, stop whenever we need to, and take time to enjoy the views or chat.

At the top, you will see the whole city below you, the sea in the distance, and the soft hills surrounding it all. It is a special place — peaceful, open, and full of fresh energy.

We will talk along the way about your time in Scotland, how your trip has been, or anything else you would like to share. I will gently guide the walk and take a few natural photos as we go — nothing posed, just simple moments as they happen.

This experience is perfect for couples, solo travellers, or families with older children who enjoy walking and want to do something a little different, something quieter and more personal, just a short walk from the heart of the city.

Slow Down. Look Around. Feel Scotland.

A shaggy black Highland cow with long horns grazes on a grassy hillside against an overcast sky.

SCOTTISH WEATHER: Part of the adventure

If the weather is a little wild (as it sometimes is in Scotland), we will not cancel unless it feels unsafe. On days with strong wind or rain, we may gently adjust the route and explore the lower parts of Holyrood Park instead.

There are still plenty of beautiful paths, quiet corners, and lovely viewpoints that are more sheltered from the wind. The experience will always go ahead — just adapted to the weather on the day, so you can still enjoy your walk, take in the views, and go home with something special.

Scottish weather is unpredictable, but that is part of the adventure. As long as you bring the right layers and an open heart, you will have a beautiful experience to remember.

FRIENDLY NOTE:

This adventure is best suited for children aged 12 and over due to the hill’s steep and rocky terrain. It is a more challenging walk and may not be suitable for younger children.

That said, every family is different — if you feel your child is up for it, feel free to message me. I am always happy to chat and see what might work best for you.

To keep things relaxed and enjoyable, we can add extra time if needed for a slower pace. Additional time can be added at £100 per hour.

FAQ

How long is the experience?

The walk is around 3 kilometres in total, with time to pause and enjoy the views. We usually spend around 2 hours together, depending on the pace.

What should I wear?

Good walking shoes or boots with grip are essential due to the uneven and sometimes slippery paths. Please also bring a waterproof jacket, warm layers, and clothing suited to the season and weather. It often gets very windy at the top.

Is it difficult?

The hike up Arthur’s Seat is not very long, but it does include some steeper parts. The top can be a bit tricky, especially if the stones are wet or slippery. We will take it slow, stop to rest as often as needed, and enjoy the views along the way.
You do not need to be super fit, but a moderate level of fitness will help you enjoy the walk comfortably. Good walking shoes are essential.

Is it suitable for children?

This adventure is best for children aged 12 and over, due to the hill’s incline and uneven paths. However, every child is different — if you feel your child is fit and enjoys walking, feel free to get in touch. We can always add extra time (£100 per hour) to take things at a slower pace.

Younger children are welcome, but please note that we may need to slow the pace and add extra time to keep the walk enjoyable and relaxed for them. In this case, an additional fee of £100 per extra hour may apply to allow enough time for breaks, photos, and rest.

Please message me in advance if you plan to bring small children, so I can help you decide what works best for your family.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome on this walk. Bring some water for them too — they will love the fresh air and open space.

What if the weather is bad? Will the session be cancelled?

There is no such thing as bad weather in Scotland — just the wrong clothes! We will go ahead in most conditions, including light rain, overcast skies, or chilly days. These are all part of the Scottish experience.

If the wind is dangerously strong, we will simply explore the lower part of the hills instead. Your safety and enjoyment always come first.

Is the route very busy?

Yes, it can get quite busy — especially on sunny days or weekends. That is why I always recommend starting early in the morning, when the paths are quieter and the light is softer.

Sunrise is usually the most peaceful time to walk, and the views can be beautiful. Sunset is also stunning from the top of Arthur’s Seat, but it does get a bit more crowded around that time.

Can I combine this with a city photoshoot?

Absolutely yes — I love this!
If you would like to explore both the quiet hills and the charm of Edinburgh’s Old Town, I can create a custom package for you with a special multi-session discount.

We can plan it all in one day or split it across two days for a more relaxed experience.
It is completely up to you. Just let me know what feels right for you when you book.

How do I get there?

I will send you the exact postcode and directions to our meeting point at the Holyrood Car Park. Paid parking is available.

How do I book a session with Dorota?

Simply send me a message with your preferred date, number of people, and any notes about your group.
To secure your booking, I kindly ask for a £100 deposit, which will be deducted from your final total. Once the deposit is paid, I will confirm your session and send a short guide to help you prepare.

Nature

Step into the hills. Slow down, take in the views, and enjoy a peaceful adventure just outside the city — surrounded by nature and fresh Scottish air.

Can’t decide? Many families and couples choose both — the city and the hills — to tell the full story of their time in Scotland.

If you are thinking about booking two experiences, just message me for a custom price — I offer a special multi-session discount for those who want to explore both sides of Scotland with me.
