Fresh 48 Photography is a special session for those new families who want the first few hours of their baby’s life captured. It is held within 24-48 hours of your baby’s life, these lifestyle sessions are perfect for remembering that first day FOREVER.
Shots of your little one’s first yawns, cute little baby feet, fingers will be documented. All of those amazing family meetings. I will capture those quiet moments between you and your new little BABY. I will come to your place of birth ( or home ) within 48 hours. This is not a traditional newborn session. I will not pose the baby or bring props or lights. This will be just me capturing your Baby’s new moments in a FRESH natural way.

The Fresh 48 session take place when you are ready and feeling good after your birth, during daylight hours. I like to be there as quickly after the birth as possible, so the sooner the better.

Booking a Newborn session with me is easy. As soon as you are ready to book your session, I will send you an invoice with information on paying a £70 deposit to secure your booking. I will then pencil your due date into my calendar and patiently wait for your message that your baby is born. We will then book your Newborn Session as soon as you and your baby feel good enough. We will schedule accordingly.

A Fresh 48 is different from a "posed" newborn session with props. Instead, I like to look for natural light and capture the newness of the baby: Sweet wrinkly feet, tender kisses, hospital blankets/hats....and all that encompasses that first-day experience. You can expect the session to last about 60 minutes depending on the hospital schedule and, of course, your baby.
I will arrive to photograph when you feel ready for visitors. It's easier to capture your new baby with just your immediate family present (mummy, daddy, siblings).
Please ensure the baby has been well fed before the agreed-upon arrival time.

I'm Edinburgh based in the UK, and yes, I love to travel! However, if you want me to photograph your story, it will require a travel fee. If the location of the shoot is farther than 15 miles of the postcode EH14, please add £0.50p/mile to your session fee.

We will discuss the ideal location for your shoot during the pre-shoot consultation. This can be a country park, a beach, a field, woodlands or somewhere else that is special to you and your family. Remember, the weather may force us to change our location choice on the day.

Yes, absolutely.
If you cannot decide on one location, you can choose two locations*.
Many families choose to start their sessions in the comfort of their home, then relocate to their favourite outdoor location.

*Please add £ 100 to the session fee.

Dress to suit the weather. A wardrobe reflects who you are. I do not recommend matching but rather coordinating. Remember that clothes must be comfortable! Don't wear awkward sets just because they're pretty. A satisfied mother looks much better with freedom of movement wear whatever you feel comfortable and pretty in.

Parents often worry about the little ones playing up and the shoot being a disaster, but I’ve photographed many families, and we’ve always got some lovely shots.
My most extensive advice is to avoid asking children to smile at the camera and threats to behave themselves, have fun, be silly with the kids, and work with me to get natural smiles! Distracting them with tickles or funny games tends to work better than telling them off….and certainly, it’s worth relaxing any standard rules you’ve got for the hour of the shoot.

I’ve got two unruly little girls myself so that I won’t be judging parenting skills ;)

It would be perfect if we could order the weather! If you are happy with indoor images - we can do the whole shoot indoors from your home. There is so much we can do there.

As long as it is dry, we can go out. If it is cold, we bundle up. However, heavy rain or high winds will mean we have to stop the outdoor shoot.

I will keep an eye on the weather forecast before our shoot. If it looks horrible, I will contact you on the morning of your session day to discuss other options. This may be changing the time of the shoot or rescheduling for another day.
