GET READY FOR YOUR EDINBURGH COUPLE PHOTO SESSION

A simple guide to help you feel prepared, relaxed and enjoy your session together

Thank you so much for booking your session with me. I am really looking forward to meeting you both and capturing some lovely memories of your time in Edinburgh together.

Your session will be relaxed and easy. We will walk, chat and stop for photos along the way, so there is no need to worry about posing or knowing what to do. I will give you plenty of gentle direction when you need it.

Most importantly, just come ready to enjoy some time together. You do not need to be good in front of the camera. That part is my job.

This guide will help you with everything you need to know before your session.

Before you step in front of my camera, I would love you to know a little about the person standing behind it.

I have shared a little of my story, my family and why photographs mean so much to me. So, if you would like to get to know me before we meet, come and have a little look into my world.

If Julia is joining us on the day, you will know in advance.

MEETING POINT


Every session is a little different, and the exact meeting point will depend on the experience you have booked and the location we have chosen together.

Before your session, I will send you the exact meeting point with a Google Maps link, so you can easily find your way. And if you are not sure about the best way to get there, where to park, or which bus to take, just ask. I know Edinburgh well and I am always happy to help.


On the day, if you are running a little late or cannot quite find me, please do not worry. Just send me a quick text message or WhatsApp and we will find each other.

HOW LONG WILL THE SESSION LAST?


The length of your session will depend on the collection you have booked.

The Keepsake Collection usually lasts around 45 minutes, while the Story Collection gives us around 1 hour and 30 minutes together.


There is never any need to rush. We will take our time, walk between locations and stop whenever we find a lovely spot for photos. I want the session to feel like an enjoyable part of your time in Edinburgh, rather than something you need to hurry through.

If you would like a little more time, we can often extend the session and explore another nearby location or simply carry on for a little longer.

Additional time can be added for £100 per extra hour.



If you already know that you would like more time, just let me know before your session and we can plan it together.

NOTE TO THE GUYS


Having your photo taken might not be your favourite thing, and that is completely fine. You do not need to know how to pose or what to do with your hands. I will help you along the way and keep things relaxed and natural.

Most of the time, after the first few minutes, you will forget about the camera and simply enjoy the time together.

WHAT TO WEAR


Choose clothes that feel comfortable and feel like you.

For couples, it is best if your outfits work well together without matching exactly. Soft, natural colours usually look beautiful in Edinburgh, especially cream, beige, navy, denim, soft greens and earthy tones.


Try to avoid large logos, neon colours and very busy patterns.

Layers are always a good idea in Scotland, and comfortable shoes are important if we are walking around the city.

Most importantly, wear something you feel good in. You will look much more relaxed in the photos.

COLOURS I LOVE

Not sure where to start? These are some of my favourite colours for Edinburgh.

SHOES


We will be walking between locations during your session, so choose shoes you feel comfortable in. Edinburgh streets can be uneven, especially around the Old Town.

Simple trainers, boots or comfortable flat shoes all work beautifully. Choose something that works with your outfit but that you will also be happy walking in.

ACCESSORIES


Accessories are a lovely way to add a little personality to your photos. A scarf, hat or gloves can look especially lovely during the cooler months and are perfect for Edinburgh weather.

You can also bring something that feels special to you as a couple. Maybe a tartan scarf you picked up during your trip, a favourite hat, or simply something you both love wearing.

You do not need to bring anything especially for the photos. Keep it simple and choose things that feel like you.

BAGS AND PERSONAL ITEMS


Try to bring only what you really need for your session. We will be walking between locations, so keeping things light will make it much easier to relax and enjoy your time together.

A small bag or backpack is usually best. If possible, avoid bringing large bags or lots of shopping with you, as we may need to put them down while taking photos.

The less you have to carry, the more freedom we have to move around and explore.

Posing


You do not need to worry about posing. I will guide you throughout the session and give you simple, natural prompts.

Sometimes I might ask you to do something that feels a little silly, but usually that is when the best, most natural photos happen.

I will also keep an eye on little things like your hair and clothes, so you can just relax and enjoy the time together.

EDINBURGH WEATHER


Edinburgh weather can change quickly, and that is completely normal here. You may see sunshine, clouds, wind, or even a little rain during the same day.

The good news is that this kind of weather often creates beautiful light for photos. Soft clouds and a little breeze can make the city look even more atmospheric.


Most photo walks go ahead in normal Scottish weather, including light rain. Wet cobblestones can actually look beautiful in photos, and the city often feels a little quieter.

If you like, you can bring an umbrella. It can be useful during the walk and can also look lovely in photos.

My advice is simple: bring a light layer, and enjoy the atmosphere of the city. Edinburgh is beautiful in every season.

WHAT TO BRING ON THE DAY


A few little things to think about before you head out:

  • Comfortable shoes – choose something that looks good with your outfit but that you can comfortably walk in.
  • An extra layer – Edinburgh weather can be unpredictable, so a jacket, cardigan or scarf is always useful.
  • A favourite accessory – a hat, scarf or something personal you would love to include in a few photos.
  • An umbrella – if you have one that you love, bring it along. If not, do not worry, I will have one ready for you.
  • Just the essentials – try to keep bags and personal items to a minimum so we can move around easily.

MAKE IT A LITTLE MORE YOURS


If you have booked the Story Collection, we have more time to explore and can include a little stop along the way. It is a lovely way to make your session feel even more like your time together in Edinburgh.

COFFEE

Fancy a little coffee break? We can stop at a cosy café along the way and capture a few relaxed photos while you enjoy your coffee together.

ICE CREAM

If the weather is right, we can pick up an ice cream and take a few photos as we continue our walk. Simple little moments like this can make the photos feel even more like you.

SOMETHING TO DRINK

Or perhaps you would rather stop somewhere for a drink. A glass of wine, whisky or something else you enjoy can be a lovely way to finish part of the session.

Any food or drinks you choose during the session are not included in your collection and will need to be purchased by you.

AFTER YOUR photoshoot


After the session, I will carefully edit your photos and prepare your online gallery.

Your gallery will usually be ready within 1–2 weeks. Once it is ready, you will receive a link where you can view and download your photos.

You will also have the option to order high-quality prints directly from your gallery if you wish.

Please remember to download and back up your photos once you receive them. Your files may take up to 4 GB of space on your computer.
