FAQ

HOW MUCH WALKING IS INVOLVED?

That depends entirely on the route and your fitness level. Some routes are mostly flat and easy, while others include gentle hills and more open countryside. We can always adapt the experience to suit you, and there is never any pressure to walk further than feels comfortable.

IS THIS SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN?

Yes, although some routes are more family-friendly than others. Harlaw Reservoir is usually the easiest option for families with younger children, while Flotterstone can work very well if you have an adventure buggy and enjoy a little more variety in the terrain.

Swanston Village includes steeper paths and uneven ground, so it is often better suited to older children who enjoy walking and exploring. I am always happy to recommend the most suitable route based on your family and the age of your children.

CAN WE BRING OUR DOG?

Yes, dogs are very welcome. Some locations may require dogs to stay on a lead due to livestock and wildlife nearby, but I am always happy to recommend the most suitable route for you and your dog.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?

Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended. Scottish weather can change quickly, so layers are always a good idea. I will send advice before your session based on the season and chosen route.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?

A little rain often creates beautiful photographs and a very Scottish atmosphere. If conditions become unsafe due to strong winds or heavy rain, we can adjust the route, move to a more sheltered location, or reschedule if needed.

DO WE NEED HIKING EXPERIENCE?

Not at all. Most routes are suitable for people with average fitness levels. We can keep things short and easy or extend the walk if you feel comfortable and would like to explore a little further.

IS TRANSPORTATION INCLUDED?

No. You will need to make your own way to the starting location, but I am always happy to help with directions and recommend the easiest way to get there.

Swanston Village is easy to reach by bus, taxi or car. Harlaw Reservoir and Flotterstone are usually best reached by car, taxi or rental vehicle, especially if you would like maximum flexibility on the day.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME FOR THE EXPERIENCE?

I personally love early mornings. The light is beautiful, the trails are quieter and the experience feels more peaceful. Most locations remain relatively quiet throughout the day, although Swanston can sometimes be busier because of the Highland cows and popular walking routes.

WE FEEL A LITTLE SHY IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA. IS THAT OKAY?

Completely. Most people tell me this before their session. Being outdoors often helps people relax because the focus is on the experience rather than the camera. I keep things easy and natural, with very gentle guidance whenever needed.

CAN WE BUY MORE PHOTOS OR UPGRADE TO THE FULL GALLERY?

Yes. Each experience includes a set number of edited photographs, with the option to upgrade to the full gallery after viewing your images. There is no need to decide in advance.
